Truly, Fortrst Gump is a great movie. A classic. But if I'm going to be honest, it's not better than Shawshank Redemption or Pulp Fiction, both of which lost to Forrest Gump for the Oscars for best picture.

I'm waiting for the Forrest Gump/Pulp Fiction smash up.

Forrest somehow ends up with Marsellus Wallace's suitcase and Wallace has Gump's'....

Gump Fiction, Forrest Fiction or, perhaps a favourite, Pulp Gump.

The Oscars are pretty screwed generally. They rarely ever get it rigbt. Just ignore tbem. This is just great storytelling period.

well, i can't tell which i like best actually of "forrest gump" and "shawshank redemption", haven't seen "pulp fiction", but this has a lot of comedy in it as well, like gump's lines "must be hard being brothers" or "must be hard being the king", and the first lady he meets on the bench, he just keeps talking and she couldn't care less, that box of chocolates by the way that is being mentioned all over this board is a christmas holiday treat in sweden, but while this can be very funny it's also very sad at times so it's not a movie you wanna watch regularly i find.

I like this film and frankly while I understand why people wanted Shawshank to win best picture, I don't get people who think Pulp Fiction is best. Forrest Gump and Shawshank Redemption are about good people but Pulp Fiction while entertaining does not hold a candle to either Forrest Gump or Shawshank. But that's just me.

Frankly my least favorite Oscar decisions are Sean Connery winning for the Untouchables, Jack Palance winning for City Slickers, Tommy Lee Jones winning for the Fugitive, and Kim Bassinger winning for L.A Confidential.
