How does nobody recognize him????

Ok so you've got this guy who's been telling you all these things about his life, all the places he's been, people he's met, things he's done, etc. Considering how famous this guy has become wouldn't one of these people listening to his story realize who they are talking to? Remember this is ALABAMA for crying out loud, he was an all-star player for BEAR BRYANT, there's no reason under that fact alone that nobody should recognize him.

reply

There were lots of all-stars under Bear Bryant. Just because you turned on the caps doesn't mean the entire state would know by face every player on the team every year.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

He was also a famous ping-pong player, had a shrimp imperium, was running across the cpuntry for three years, exposed his ass in front of Nixon while cameras are running and whatnot ... yeah, at least one of them should have recognized him from at least one of the things he is famous for.

reply

It was Johnson he exposed his ass to. He met Nixon bc he went to china as a ping pong player and was the one responsible for alerting authorities about watergate.

reply

Hes actually in Georgia when he's telling the story on the bench. Not alabama so...

No. Without looking up the name, tell me who was the last person to swim the English Channel? Would you recognize them if they sat next to you at a bench?

And just because information is so readily available now, doesn't mean it was in the 70s and 80s.

You are sin.

Sure. In the 60's, 70s, and 80s. It's not like today where you can get on your phone and you see what's going viral.

Forrest wasn't a super mega celebrity that was constantly on the news every day and had people gossiping about him.

He was a guy that would do a tv appearance about once or twice a decade. And not once in those appearances did the interviewer introduce him as anything other than what he was coming in for.

Seize the moment, 'cause tomorrow you might be dead.

Swim the English tunnel??

reply

Channel. Thank you.

It's not that uncommon. I've heard of Steve Jobs (may he rest in peace) but if 10 years ago I visited Los Angelous, California, and sat next to him on a park Bench while waiting for a bus, I probably wouldn't have recognized him.
