I always wondered if maybe she felt she had been misled or exploited by this movie.
When she signed on, she probably knew that it was an Ann Rice book and had a general sense of what it was about. But the movie was going to be different. It was going to be a comedy with Aykroyd and O'Donnell, and Gerry Marshall was directing. He had already done several projects that helped women in movies, including Pretty Woman which was sexual but in a lighthearted and tasteful way.
But as filming started, she started to realize that this movie was going be different. Not only were the sex scenes raunchier and more graphic, but she was the only major star who was showing anything. And she was showing everything and most of the acts were being done to her (including having butter and cinnamon licked off her nipples). But by that point it was too late, they had already started filming and she couldn't risk breaching her contract, and jeopardizing future projects. So, she went forward as best as she could, but it was noticeable that she wasn't enjoying it. And even sadder is that his movie bombed, and the other stars were able to distance themselves from it, but she couldn't, and it derailed the momentum of her career at that time.
