Would Nicholas Cage have upstaged Carey as Lloyd?

According to wiki, Cage was in talks to play Lloyd.

I think Cage, who seems intelligent, wouldn't play a dumb guy well.

And I think he'd try to outdo Carey.

Carey actually wanted Cage to play Lloyd. He would have made a great dumb guy but it would have been a different movie.

I think Carey was perfectly cast as Lloyd.

I don't really see anybody else as playing him.

Sam Kinison would've made for an engaging Lloyd
