Looking for movies like thisone

This movie is amazing. I love the industrial atmosphere, it reminds me of Aliens. The music, the dark futuristic stage and the huge weapons give life to an unique movie.

Could someone name a movie like thisone?

"Hardware" is the closest I could come to. Gonna be next to impossible to find on DVD tho-

reply

Thx, I just saw the trailer of Hardware.
I'm looking foward to watch it. Another movie which looks the way death machine does is split second. Just in case someone is interested. http://imdb.com/title/tt0105459/

reply

Hardware and Split Second are fine examples of British sci-fi from the period. They are both, essentially, a bit *beep* but rather endearingly so. Plus Split Second gets B-movie bonus for points for starring Rutger Hauer, and Hardware gets huge 80s Rock Geek bonus points for having appearances from Iggy Pop, Lemmy out of Motorhead and Carl McCoy out of Fields of the Nephilim. If you don't set your expectations too high, both are plenty of fun. Also, I'd recommend the original Max Headroom movie, which must surely have been released on DVD by now.

Blade Runner, Unreal Tournament games - same dark steamy moisty dirty industrialized universe

I saw screamers starring peter weller around the same time that i first saw this movie and felt it had a similar dark sci fi feel to it.

reply

screamers, death machine, split second .. the good old times!

these are movies why i spent so much money on film festivals 15 years ago,
to see fresh, uncut, director versions before they got raped for the mainstream audience.

sadly they don't make this kind of movies anymore.

btw, a list of Post Apocalyptic films:

Yeah. Screamers, Split Second, Hardware and Death Machine... Those are the good cult sci-fi movies of the 90s.

You may be also interested in the Japanese movie Gunhead, although is not as good as the aforementioned, it has robots, good effects, sets and 80s coolness.

I liked Nemesis and Mutant Chronicles.

Strangely enough, both have Thomas Jane in them.

reply

I hated Mutant Chronicles and I think that it doesn't fit the topic...

Nemesis is in my list. I will watch it in the coming weeks.

I've been looking for the same kinds of movies as you, and here are the ones I found :-)

Cyborg 2 - Industrial feeling where two huge companies "fight" each other
Screamers - Futuristic movie with evolving killer robots
Soldier - Old elite soldier left on a trash planet, industrial feel
Split second - A monster that takes hearts in a rough futuristic world
Moon 44 - Movie on a spaceship with industrial feeling
Deep Rising - A large monster on a ship vs terrorists, fun time
Fortress - Taking place in a futuristic underground prison, cool flick!
Strange Days - Similar world, no evil robots though, just addictive memory recordings
RoboCop - You should already know this one
Virtuosity - Hmmm, questinable move, cool world though
Johnny Mnemonic - Awsome world and a fun plot

I guess that is all for now. Hope that they are the kinds of movies you are looking for ;-)
