who was the actual director

Ryan was the deputy director of the CIA and Ritter was the deputy director of operations, but do we ever see who is the actual Director of the CIA. Cutter was the national security adviser so that rules him out. Shouldn't the director of been involved alot more in something like this.

reply

Dean Jones. First of all, Ryan is not the deputy director of the CIA. He is Ritter's counterpart, as acting deputy director of intelligence. Dean Jones is the one who tells Ritter that Ryan will be the acting deputy director of intelligence.

reply

I always thought Admiral Greer was supposed to be the director?

reply

Dean Jones plays Judge Moore. Judge Moore was the Director of the CIA. Its just that we never see/hear much about him. He is more prominent in Without Remorse when they first get Clark into the orginization. Since Greer was Deputy Director of Operations and thus Jack's boss and the one he interacted with, he figures a lot more prominently in the books, we see/hear him a lot more.

reply

Ritter therore would be Clarks Boss right?

reply

In CAPD we are told that Clark's primary job is as an instructor at the Farm and they call him in for field ops when they need him. So when doing field ops, Ritter would (should) be the one giving him orders. But somehow the idea of Clark having "a boss" seems strange.

reply

Ritter would still be his boss as Clark was training people to work in the field.

reply

The Central Intelligence Agency has a Director whose title is DCI... he's the Director of Central Intelligence.

That character was Judge Moore.

Under the DCI is two Deputy Directors. Admiral Greer was the Deputy Director of Intelligence. Bob Ritter was the Deputy Director of Operations. Jack Ryan succeeded Admiral Greer.

There are two departments: Intelligence and Operations. I hate the titles as they are confusing but the Deputy Director of Intelligence is the Deputy Director under the Director and the head of the Intelligence dept.

Actually, it's the DCI then DDCI. (Deputy director CIA)
Then directorate heads DDI, DDO, etc....
There are other directorates. At the very least from what I recall is Admin and Science & Technology. Maybe one more but it's not coming to mind right now.
