Does the guy who says "boom" know it's going to happen and Ford's acting

We used to sit around and watch this film over and over again. It seemed to be on almost every weekend and the kids liked it (yes, we let them watch it and no, they didn't turn out to be psychos when they grew up).

But when that missile is shot from the plane to blow up the bad guys, and when the guy eating a carrot says "boom" as he's watching it on TV via satellite, could this really have been done in real time?

As for Harrison Ford, I've always thought his acting on the hammy side. Whenever he shows distress, he purses his lips in a half frown and half teeth grinding, then lowers his brow. It seems to be his go-to distress expression. Has anyone noticed this, too?

Thoughts? Ideas?
