'Jogging' euphemism for sex?
I've watched Chungking Express countless times (love the film) - but there is one thing I've never fully understood: Cop 223 references to jogging (doing it when he's heartbroken, to sweat out his tears).
When I first watched it, I assumed that it he was using euphemism for sex - especially since he suggestively asks the Woman in the Blonde Wig to go jogging with him when trying to seduce her at the bar. Also, when he is earlier returning a pager call to 'Ming' - from the one sided phone conversation, a heartbroken Ming wants go jogging with 223 in front of an audience. 223 gets angry and says that jogging is a 'personal' thing and cannot be performed in front of an audience. I originally thought Ming wanted to engage in a threesome or exhibitionist sex with 223.
However, of course, later in the film, we do see 223 literally jogging around the field on his birthday.
My question is that if anyone else thought the references to jogging were about sex? Was 223 literally just innocently talking about jogging or was he, in fact, talking about sex and later goes running because he couldn't hook up with the Blonde Wig Woman in the hotel?
