The reason this movie wasn't a sucessful movie.

I believe this movie has a great and very believable story. The acting is mostly excellent. The movie is written very well. The only problem I have with this movie is having real athletes play roles. They dragged down important roles in the movie and almost made it like a novelty publisity stunt. They even had Shaq on some posters. I think Shaq has a good personality and he's a hell of a ball player, but an actor, he ain't. Don't even get me started on the rest of the athletes in the movie. If they would have casted athletic actors to play these parts, it would have been better. Like an Omar Epps type of guy. They would have been good and the movie wouldn't have seemed to be cheesy in that area. Nolte is great in the movie. Ed O'Neil is in a role that fits him perfect. And JT Walsh plays another great role. I enjoy this movie, I just believe if they would have gone this way, it would have a higher rating than 5.6.

Darksidecolour,

I just addressed this exact same thing with another poster on this Blue Chips board. Funny how you mention Omar Epps, lol. Check it out..same answer goes for you.

Peace Out.

It was probably poor marketing, and I still feel they messed up with the name of the movie. Forget Paris also had NBA stars in the movie, and that didn't detract from the success of the movie. Granted, that's a romantic comedy, and I'm not actually sure if that movie made any money, but I think it did alright.

There wasn't a enough Slick in it for me. The guy had major connections to Juco players and other castoffs, why he wasn't involved more with the program I don't know.

To the OP
Im watching it now.. and the scene where Penny is asking Nolte if he leaves school will his mom lose the house....clearly is lacking in real acting chops. Omar Epps or maybe Coby Bell would've worked here
