Tony is most likely taking a class in television production. Many communication departments offer such a class. I remember one of the colleges I attended had a class in television production.

shareMost likely it is not a class on production. But something ridiculous like watching TV and talking about episodes. IT was clearly supposed to be a BS class that athletes take for an easy grade.
