What is the time span of the film?

I saw what appeared to be a wedding celebration (the uncle toasted the bride and groom), yet it seemed the hero was leaving the force, which seems a rather shaky way to start a marriage.

But then it appeared that they have a not-so-young child.

Did I miss some time lapses?

14 months...it says in the movie, sorry for making that easy. :)

When they're talking about who the bomber could be, it says "he escaped from prison 14 months ago"

As well, he doesn't leave the force, he leaves the field. Plus, THEY dont have a child, SHE has a child, at the party, the child says "I want Jimmy to be my father"...

Great movie though, one of my favs.

The first sequence (the prison break) takes place 14 months before the rest.

There are also some flashbacks to 25 years before the main story (the bomb explosion in Ireland).

The remainder takes place over a 3 week span. At the beginning, during rehearsal for the concert, it is mentioned that the concert takes place in 3 weeks' time.

He isnt leaving the force. He plans to stop actually defusing bombs etc, and instead is taking up a safer job teaching other people how to do it.

I dunno if it is his daughter or not. Either way, the kid was born approximately half way between the flashback scenes and before the events of the rest of the movie.
