Granted, all I know about C4 explosive I learned in the movies, but in the scene where the old guy (Max?) gets blown up at the playground, his front pockets are stuffed with C4 bricks. Seems like the whole block would have been vaporized.
It's just a movie, I guess, and a decently enjoyable one at that....
C4, while it is a powerful exposive, is not that powerful. Even the bombs of the Second World War, packed with many times the explosives used in this scene, would not destroy an entire block. You're right; it is just a movie. It is a thoroughly enjoyable one too, so enjoy. I did.
shareI do find it odd that Jimmy is neither scorched nor singed nor knocked off his feet, even though he's within a few yards of the explosion, while the statue loses its head. There's also the question of how the explosion made such a big crater in the cement, underneath a large metal object the bomb was sitting on, which has apparently disintegrated.
Then again, it's just a stupid movie. A really stupid movie.

Actually in the movie they say why that happens.
This bomber is a professional in directional explosions, this is why he is so close to the scene (in this one, where he is crying in the building near by). Imagine dust and a wind, lets just say he can be the wind in a dusty moment :)
