That Statue With The Arrows???? (SPOILER)

Does anyone know the significance of that statue with the arrows sticking into it? Early in the movie, at the outdoor bazaar, Gaerty sees it and sort-of laughs at it - as though there was some sort of irony about it? Does is have some relation to Ireland?
(SPOILER) Of course, it's the same location where Gaerty blows Max "to Kingdom come." When Gaerty kidnaps Max at the pub, he leaves a clue for Dove by drawing that statue on an old photograph.

Anyone who knows, thanks for posting!

You Got It!!!
I just checked the wiki link and it has a picture of Saint Sebastian. That appears to be whom the statue was depicting. Thank you very much for the clue!

I went to school there, St. Francis de Sales in Charlestown, and I was a kid when they filmed this. Never seen it until now, Sundancer on demand. Mainly watching for the sets. That arch and that statue were fake. Also, we never had bazaars like that and we definitely never had a swing set.
