Neither one can use an accent to save his life! Awful on both counts.

Both Actors including Especially Tommy Lee Jones, Spent months perfecting their accents. Despite this, Test screening audiences complained they couldn't understand what they characters were saying (Because Jones Irish and Bridges Botsonian was so thick) leading to, not 1, but 2 ADR sessions. In the end their accents came out as a joke.
As discussed in the introduction, all of the dialogue by Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones was redubbed. As a result, although the lines match the lip movements, occasional words are not clear. This has always been the case, and while it is common to blame this weakness on bad accents, the opposite true: Good accents necessitated the redubbing, resulting in a less than optimal mix. Subtitles are available and can be switched on as necessary. Alan Silvestri's expressive score has been composed to underline the story's emotional content far more than its action beats. For variety, there is also the "1812 Overture" (performed by the Boston Pops) and several familiar songs from U2, to whom Gaerity enjoys listening.

Hm...so what I'm taking from your post is that the accents were (more or less) DELIBERATELY made bad instead of good in order to accommodate a dense audience who couldn't understand what they were saying with the good accents? If that is true then it's really sad and made a mediocre movie even worse than it already was. Wow.
I know it can take a bit to adjust or get used to listening to certain accents--Irish accents CAN be tough to decipher at times in films but seriously? o_O
