Jeez this movies depressing

I remembered this movie very fondly. I just started it and it starts with the father talking about giving up custody and he just doesn't care at all. Like jeez I see drug addicts distraught about losing their kids. This guy doesn't have a care in the world. His son is heartbroken and wants to be a family again. What an incredibly sad scene. And plus I know how it ends and its not the happiest of endings. Still a pretty "fun" movie but sad.

It is sad but unfortunately it happens a lot. I know a few foster parents and the children who come to their homes often come from similar families. I like the message the movies “It can happen” because good things will happen if you have faith.

For sure. I just watched the movie again and I just skipped over the beginning part. It's just heartbreaking to see that. I'm ok with seeing Mufasa's death in The Lion King but seeing a father just not care about his child at all and showing no interest...thats too much.

There are entire societies south of Europe like that.
