Owner was going to fire Knox after a winning streak?

I know this is a movie, but why would an owner of a team that just had a tremendous streak decide to fire his manager because a story says he got his decisions from a boy who saw angels? From a business stand-point, this could give him a lucrative opportunity to make a ton of money and since owners really care about how much they take in, this whole scene seems ridiculous. I mean you can have a person believe the impossible, but not the implausible.

wow, you're right. That is, by far, the biggest plot hole in this movie about angels that come down from heaven to help a baseball team win a few games.

Bad publicity, I suppose. Attendance shot up when the Angels started winning, but it may have dropped when angels were spoken of. Just a guess.

He's a baseball owner, and therefore an idiot.

doesnt matter. that reason to fire a manager is not an excuse. sometimes when people get fired. the owners need to watch it because u never know what that person that got fired does. they can sue the owner. they can call their lawyer's up and that lawyer can call the owners boss and that can be definet trouble.

Maybe he thought it wouldn't be good for fans who didn't believe in angels, but I'm sure he thought he was mad to believe this or else foolish to do so as openly as he did. They only had 1 game to play then so I'm sure he felt he could get away with that...he didn't believe in the angels helping the team so he'd asume they'd win because of the players, not the manager or angels.
