J.P. sees angels?

I haven't seen this movie in many years so I'm going by memory here, but...

At one point Roger is unavailable to "see" angels for some reason, so J.P. gives it a try. We see his POV thru the binoculars, then he says he's sorry, but he can't see them.

But in his POV, it seemed to me he COULD see angels, but he was only seeing odd details by which he couldn't recognize them. Does this seem to be what happens, or did I just misunderstand this part?

Nope. He just saw one of the baseball players from the team shaking their hair out after ttaking their helmet off, coincidentally in the beaming sun rays!

At the end of the film, JP does see Christopher' Lloyd's character at the window.
