The whole Plot is false? They didnt win the pennant?

Isnt the Pennant in baseball winning The league championship( AL or NL) in baseball?

Ranch wilder says something along these lines during the end of the movie.

The angels were in last place entering the all star break and are now just 1 win away from the divsion title with 2 games left against the defending champion White sox.

They ended up winning that last game and the movie ended.

So didnt they just win the division title?

Winning a division in baseball is winning a pennant. Hence the term "pennant race" used during the regular season.

The pennant after googling it and asking many other people is winning the AL or NL championship. Since in this movie the angels did not win theIr league championship this is a huge gaping plot hole.

Whose to say they didn't win it afterward

To this day, I'm convinced that the screenwriters and director had no grasp of how baseball in general or playoffs work, or maybe just hoped we wouldn't notice.

Roger asked his dad when will we be a family, he said when the angels win the pennant.

He only wanted angels to help them win the pennant. After that, dad should have came back but didn't. He got a family and that's what he really wanted.

It didn't matter if there were more games after that.

They won the division title, which means they are now in the playoffs because division winners automatically go to the playoffs. They would then have to beat the other teams to win the American League Championship. But, another funny thing is that the White Sox weren't even in the Angels division in real life in 1994! lol

For this film to be released in the middle of the 1994 season, it would have to have been filmed during the 1993 season.

Forgot about that.
Here's the 1993 American League standings: https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/AL/1993-standings.shtml
You're right. They were in the same division in 1993. But still, the East Division winner played against the West Division winner for the American League Pennant. So, they still didn't win the pennant. They only won the West Division lol
