SIR David Jason has signed a $7m to return

$7m thaws Frost

June 16, 2007 11:30pm

SIR David Jason has signed a $7m three-year "golden handcuffs" deal with ITV which will see him return in A Touch of Frost.
Despite suggestions he would never again play Detective Jack Frost, the 67-year-old has agreed to reprise the role for two more episodes.

Filming starts in October.

Sir David is still seen as one of the most bankable performers on British television. The last A Touch of Frost, which was a one-off last year, attracted nine million viewers in the UK. The new episodes are unlikely to go out until well into 2008.

ITV executive chairman Michael Grade, who played a key role in persuading the star to sign the deal, said: "David is without doubt the UK's most popular and best-loved actor and our viewers want to see more of him."
