Did anyone else noticed that the character of Sandy Longford, played with great gusto by the late Bill Stewart, simply dissappeared after 1999? We last see him in 'The Appendix Man' and after that he doesn't show up anymore and likewise is not mentioned again in any episode.

I'm not sure why; Bill Stewart died in 2006 and could have done more episodes. I liked his character, since he always provided some comic relief with Frost.

Any insight from Frost fans on this subject?

It may or may not be relevent but he died from Motor Neurone Disease so it maybe this was the beginning stages of his illness around this time?

Good point. Perhaps he was indeed too ill to continue acting.
