Completely unbelivable police drama

Most British police are wimps, more concerned with paper work and giving motorists tickets for speeding than actually dealing with real crime.

Heath and safety would prevent them from acting like Frost, and that's if there was any with the brains/guts to be a maverick.

I've never enjoyed Frost because it is completely unbelivable. It is completely make-believe, the average British policeman is nothing like Frost.

reply

well I think the "point" of Frost is that he's a gritty "old school" detective --- and Mullett is representative/indicative of the new breed of "touchy feely" cop.

reply

I'm sorry, but you were expecting "real" from a TV show?

I may not be the smartest, but I know not to try buying drugs from the police department.

reply

As the other responses point out, Frost was intended to be the old school copper, dealing with the new, community-oriented, politically-correct policing that Mullet represents. that's why they put him with a black man and a lesbian - to make the contrast and show him - and his generation - dealing with social changes. Frost is regularly told to not take risks, but he acts on his instincts and trusts them. And most every episode has him complaining about paperwork. It's hard to imagine a worse criticism of the series than this one.

And of course, it is completely make-believe. That's what fiction is. If you followed the average copper through the day with cameras, how long do you think you could stand to watch it? It's like war - 99% boredom, 1% hell.

TabacoSmoker's views are coloured by the fact that he hates his own country and the fact that he hates being English. In other words he's a self hating moron who should have been drowned at birth. Do England a favour: drop dead.

He's right though -- probably where the New Zealand police get their standards, standing off from hostage situations for hours until they resolve themselves with the killing of victims.

Do really wanna see a series about cops doing nothing than "paper work and giving motorists tickets for speeding"???
You surely don't like "The Sweeney", "The Professionals", "Life On Mars", "Inspector Morse/Lewis", "Inspector George Gently", "Midsomer Murders", or any other 'cop show'. I guess you're favourite must be "The Thin Blue Line".
I can't and I don't wanna judge British police; I only know when I watch TV I wanna be entertained.
