to me he is still playing del boy

as the title said. the manerisms (excuse spelling) are the same as del boy. i apsolutly love a touch of frost but the lines are del boy's lines

denton- there is a denton in kent, essex, bucks, sussex, and all the other home counties, this denton i beleive is west of london

great minds think alike.....or was it demented? i can never remember!

I agree about his mannerisms. I like the series. I like Jason. I just think - and I hope I'm not being unjust - he plays the same part every time.

reply

I disagree

reply

I have to agree with mr sharpe and do not think del boy comes out at me when watching frost

reply

what the hell? theres even a trig.
the whole fried breakfasts, nicking other peoples food. his words and phrases in every episode theres 3 or 4 phrases from only fools and horses.
the hate off authority, the ducking and diving and cutting corners. all he needs is to swap his car for a reliant robin

ps i dont care about the spellings

Rarely do I see anything of Del in Frost. Del is a shallow over-optimistic bungling clown (I mean that in the nicest way) whilst Frost is a far deeper, angrier personality whose clownishness is a reaction to the often depressing crimes he is forced to deal with.

Frost and Del Boy alike? Yeah, as chalk and cheese!

reply

Del is many things - a clown yes - shallow no!!!

i see some elements of Del Boy in David Jason's performances as frost but not much. this character and this programme is totally different to only fools and horses and he plays the part well. when i read the frost novels i could really picture David Jason's Frost as the same Frost in the books.

reply

He looks like the detective William kurt in colombos dagger of the mind.

Just because he displays mannerisms or quirks that he may have displayed when playing other characters, doesn't make it the same as just playing Del-boy.

I think it just shows that often an actors own personality bleeds into the character a little.

If you actually consider what Del-boy was all about, and what Frost was all about as a character, and included all the main / significant traits, apart from the odd tell / tick, there's really not that much that's the same.
