I just saw "Widows and Orphans" and as I remember it I actually spotted the villain before any crime was comitted.. probably because I have seen him in both Cracker and Prime Suspect and knew he wasnt just playing an extra in the background.. so no suspense for me there ha ha

I had a look at this thread before watching the episode and didn't think I would notice anyone, but I did! I've seen the actor in a few things too, most recently an episode of Inspector Morse where he played one of the suspects.
I noticed how they panned past him in a crowd right at the beginning of the episode and a character almost inaudibly mentions that he (the killer) will be driving the mini bus (Frost suspects that whoever drove the mini bus that day was the killer), but you aren't introduced to him until more than halfway through the episode. Very sneaky!
