I'm watching season 1 again and have only just figured out that Griffin (James Marsden S1) is Gill's brother and is the same Griffin who eventually goes out with Julia. (Doh!) How come Jeremy London wasn't there sooner to play Griffin?

Anyway, does anyone else think that Gill's death is a little sudden? You can tell that something's going to happen in the last episode when she's with Bailey in the clothes shop and she talks about having her own clothes shop one day. She seems consumed by sadness even though the cocaine overdose is presented as a one-off mistake.

She had a problem with substance abuse, that doesn't really fit into a one time mistake. It fits into a person who could and did destroy her own life. Most people ask why James Marsden didn't continue to portray Griffin. Actors come and go on television series and Griffin was only seen for a few moments in season one. I've never heard any explanation as to why London didn't appear sooner but in the long run he was a great choice. Obviously Marsden is an amazing actor and he would have also made a fantastic Griffin.

Good question!I wonder that myself Jeremy is a way sexier actor
than James Marsden in my opinion any day and had I started watching
the show when it first came out in September of 1994 I would've con-
sidered that change to be one tripped out one!And I would've loved
it,James was terrific as Griffin,but Jeremy gave that character some
real spice and sex appeal!Oh,and by the way Griffin's sister's name
is spelled Jill,not Gill I forgot who that person was at first.

lol i didn't even notice the difference. then i came on here and someone said so i looked lol. but Griffin was brought in for the season finale and just as Jill's brother. the show was pretty low in ratings so they weren't sure if a second season was going to be greenlit so Griffin may have been intended to be a one time character
