The song Im talking about is when Bailey and Sarah are talking in her room (he's on the floor and she's on the bed)...its playing in the background. Tried looking at some website but it gave a wrong song and the website owner does not know the right song. Anyone by any chance know??!?
I don't think this is what you're after but it is important info. Due to copyright problems a large percentage of the original songs were removed and replaced on the DVD's. Did you see/hear it on television or on the DVD set? I believe the song that originally aired on television that night was "Without Letting Go" by Laurie Sargent. Sarah on the bed, Bailey on the floor? I haven't played back the DVD version so it could be something totally different now. The song was on the original soundtrack for PO5 so you'd think they'd have kept this track in the episode? Here is the song by Sargent, click on the "sample" button to hear a small portion.
Thanks for getting back to me. I heard it on a rerun on TV. The song by Laurie Sargent is NOT the one that was on tv. Im assuming the one on the dvd is the Laurie Sargent one and the one I heard was the one removed from the DVD copy due to copyright problems? Also, I thought it was only season 1 music which was affected by this?
I wonder whether I can send an email or something to find out what the song is! (im desperate to find out the name!)
The opposite. Sargent's song is on the original soundtrack which was released during the series' run in 1996. The series began in 1994. Sargent's song was from Promises Promises.
The DVD's were released years and years after the CD, so I'm not really of any help to you on the track, other than the Sargent track being on the original airing in 1996. Here are the three credited tracks from Promises Promises:
Without Letting Go by Laurie Sargent Crash Into Me by Dave Matthews Band Love Minus Zero-No Limit by Bob Dylan
Let's see if we can define the scene you're talking about? Is this the moment?
Bailey and Sarah are in Sarah's room listening to music (song playing in background). Sarah is on the bed and Bailey is on the floor looking through CDs. He asks her, "Is this my Talking Heads?" She is spaced out, but replies that yeah, he left it here when they were going out. He asks about Drew, and whether or not it's serious. She says she doesn't know, it was only going to be they're second date. He says he just asked because she never mentioned him, and apologizes if he screwed it up for her. She says Drew was very understanding and they're going to get together this weekend. She stretches and he realizes he's keeping her up and gets up to leave. She says it's not a big deal, just school tomorrow, and asks him how he's doing. "Better," he says, "better I guess." He says that this night was good for him, helped him keep his mind off things. He tells her that being with her is what helps, and takes her hand and starts rubbing it. She pulls her hand away and tells him to stop. He apologizes and blames it on old habit. She says things are different now. He says he know, and she's dating someone now, and that's great. She reminds him that he's dating someone too. She says she'll help him, but that he kinda has to learn to help himself too. She says he's doing great so far, but that she thinks he needs to make some serious changes, and get away from the things that make him want to drink. He takes her advice to heart. "Everything," he says. "Yeah, pretty much," she answers.
If it's this scene then it's Dave Matthews Band:
Sarah and Bailey are moving Bailey's boxes into the Salingers' house. She's counting stairs. They're done. He says he guesses he's going to owe her for this. "Yeah," she says, "pretty much for the rest of your life." They laugh. He says he could start tonight by taking her out to dinner anywhere she wants, but she says that's really sweet, but she can't, she's going out with Drew. He says, yeah, sure. She gets up and says, "So I'll see you?" "Yeah, I'll see you," he returns. She starts to leave, and he stops her, and then realizes he doesn't know what to say. She smiles and says, "Don't mention it," and walks out of the room. He's left sitting on a bare mattress alone. (Crash by Dave Matthews Band starts playing and continues through next scene.)
If it's neither song then it's been replaced by some other track now.

The scene in question is the first one (Sarah and Bailey talking while she's on the bed and he's going through CDs) Looks like the music was repaced in the rerun I saw since its NOT the Sargent song which is playing (this is here in the UK...although I'd be surprised if that makes a difference)
I guess I'll have to send an email or something and hope I'll get lucky!
Hmmm, generally countries outside the USA get the originally aired version but for some reason they opted to replace Sargent there. It will be interesting to see if you get any response since the series is so old and dead now. I don't have the DVD or my original recording on hand so I can't confirm the original aired version versus the DVD version here in the USA. Maybe some other poster will be able to help you out. Can you listen to the song and post any of the lyrics? Sometimes it can be googled or discovered with a line or two of lyrics.
Here's another interesting fact for you. Many years ago when Party of Five was in syndicated reruns the Lifetime Network opted to EDIT out several sexually suggestive scenes and dialog. The show was never that wild but daytime television on Lifetime decided to take out small portions of footage and dialog here and there. It really made me mad that they did that to the series, though I doubt many people ever noticed the small differences.
I think thats probably another thing I shuold try; get some lyrics and post them on google. Tried that once but the sound quality of my tv is not the best...will probably connect to decent speakers and see if I can pick out anything.
Interesting! Daytime tv sure are paranoid about that kinda stuff!
Do you have a full verse from the song other than just promises promises? I mean that we could possibly do a search to figure out what the song may have been.
Here are two songs with promises promises in the title:
Sorry for the late reply. Tried to paste the lyrics on google a few times but no luck. Will try again...might even hook up my headphones to the tv to get a better listen (yep, that desperate!) Will keep you posted!
