I just finished watching season 2, and after watching the special features on season 1 and 2 I'm wondering did something happen with Matthew Fox?? He doesn't appear in any of the interviews on the season 1 special features and no one even mentions him. Then on the season 2 special feature with jennifer love hewitt she talks a lot about how much she loved everyone on the show and how they are really good friends, and in doing so talks about each cast member individually but never mentions matthew fox (except briefly once). Was there some big falling out or something??
Matthew Fox isn't a Hollywood guy, never was. He's an extremely quite guy who loves his privacy and lives outside the hustle and bustle of the industry.
You had several people on this cast and each of them have their own lives and work that made them drift away from each other on some levels.
You have the story wrong about Fox and Campbell. In recent interviews Neve (during the Scream promotional tour) has stated that she talks to Fox and had gone to dinner with him and is a friend of his. I seriously doubt any of the cast had a falling out. What you DID have was Matthew Fox on a hugely popular series called Lost and Hewitt on a very successful series called Ghost Whisperer. When it came time to do those commentaries for the DVD's of PO5 neither Fox nor Hewitt were that readily available, and the same goes for the others. That's why you don't have the entire cast on each commentary for each season's box sets. It has nothing to do with them personally.
Neve had married and lived in Europe for a while. Lacey showed up on one episode of Ghost Whisperer years ago and Wolf is still working on the series 'V'. I wish Lacey would get some more roles, she's so underrated and seems to work less than any of the others.
Another point... the person up above mentioned Hewitt talking about the cast and barely mentioning Fox. The funny thing is that Hewitt picked up one of Fox's major acting mannerisms, Fox's habit of subtly bobbing his head up and down in a positive manner during most conversations in any given movie or television series. There's no doubt at all that Hewitt respects Fox, she uses one of his best known gestures all the time.
I had met Fox years ago after PO5 and he had very little interest in the series anymore. VERY little interest. Also Matthew Fox is very quiet when it comes to fans. Have you ever watched him on any television interview? Fox really likes The Jimmy Kimmel Show but Matthew Fox looks like he'd rather kill himself than be on some talk show, even Kimmel. It's just the way he's built. He's probably so introverted that he doesn't quite know what to do. After the gigantic success of Lost he became a little more happy when you meet him in person. He's also rather famous for giving the paparazzi the finger when they take candid shots of him at baseball games or walking with his family. He is or was a bit of a hot head throughout the years.
Notice how we haven't seen Fox anymore since Lost had it's finale. He's probably back on his private ranch home living off the residuals of Lost. I sure hope he returns to television or movies. He's a fantastic talent and it would be a shame if he just disappears forever.
felbert hit the nail on the head. Fox didn't care about the series when it was over and they all tried distancing themselves from it after it ended. It was either Entertainment Weekly, People, or US magazine that had an article discussing this back then.
I'm not so sure we can judge an actor's interest in their own work just because they don't watch their own films. Johnny Depp has never watched any of his films either (with the exception of a couple of the movies his kids can watch). He's claimed he's never watched any of them over all the years. I have a hunch that Fox may be in that same category. Matthew Fox was at the Lost finale show on Jimmy Kimmel, if he didn't care I don't think he would have shown up there. Matthew Fox also created a book of his own photography on the set of Lost. I think he probably cares a lot for Lost.
