Question about this shows last episode vs reality

Hello all,

I never really watched this show, maybe every now and then I'd see parts of it, but I have a question for all the die-hard fans. Reading the plot of the final episode on this website, it says that all the children decide to leave town and start over.

Now... aren't families who are hit by tragedy such as the Salingers meant to be brought closer? I mean everyone deciding to move out to different towns and starting new lives away from your siblings who you have lived with your entire life seems a little... extreme?

I can understand them wanting to leave town, but why not move to a new town together and then slowly branch off to suburbs near-by so you're simply a short car drive away as opposed to a plane flight away to visit your brother/sister?

I found it pretty realistic in the sense that it was less about them all leaving each other and more about them all finally being able to move forward with their lives. As the other poster mentioned, Bailey and Claudia went to college and Julia ended up with a job offer. The characters constantly struggled with moving on throughout the show and this was the most fitting ending for that theme.
