I adore period pieces, but this had to be one of the most boring "movies" that I have ever watched. EGAD

Yes, I think you must be the only one! It is absolutely riveting.

Riveting?? LOL... If that's riveting then a snail race would excite you I surmise.

I agree, I thought it was boring, too long and depressing. I think the action was too slow, and the story could have been wrapped up in four episodes instead of six. I kept watching hoping that there would be a really good ending, but was let down to see everything summed up by a voice-over (seriously, six-hours for that!). Although the film did have some entertaining and heartfelt moments, I was disappointed by it overall. I think I shall read the book to get more insight into the characters and the storyline.
