Did Friends "Jump The Shark"? Most Controversial, Unnecessary & Weirdest Storylines

Friends is a cultural icon, but even its most ardent fans can agree that along with all of the great moments, the show has also had some duds... but did it ever truly Jump the Shark? Jumping the shark is what happens when a show sacrifices quality, believability and story for an attention grabbing moment. There’s no definitive fan consensus on when (or even if) Friends truly ever pulled that stunt, but here are a few of the biggest contenders for storylines that were arguably potential "jump the shark" moments for Friends.

The two stupidest storylines were the one where Chandler couldn't crack a simple smile for a photo shoot and the one where Joey couldn't repeat short sentences in French. Basically, things anyone whose IQ is above retardation could perform but somehow these two guys weren't able to do. Not sure what the writers were thinking at that point, but those two scenes (and a few others) are automatically skipped during rewatchs.

The stupidest storyline was the one where Joey pursued Rachel. Even the cast didn’t want to do it.
