It happens in the episode TOW The 100. After everyone returned from London and Phoebe was nine months pregnant. They realized how they were treating her and then they felt bad about it. They then promised Phoebe that the six of them were going to take a road trip down to Atlantic City! They promised her the vacation after they returned as an apology for their behavior after they returned when they just kept talking about London right in front of her making her left out and pissing her off with their insensitivity; but then her water broke and I know she couldn't travel to Atlantic City with her water broken because the babies were coming in a hurry; but here's the thing:
After the birth and when the babies were safely in Frank Jr and Alice's custody; they still didn't take her to Atlantic City; instead Monica and Chandler went alone to test their new relationship and to hell with Phoebe! Curse you both Monica and Chandler!

I didn´t think the trip counted though since it was only Monica and Chandler and not the six of them as it was supposed to be. The whole plot point of making it up to Phoebe was stupid though imo, since Phoebe chose to have her brother´s babies. I never understood why the others were supposed to owe her anything because she missed out on the trip.

It's not that Phoebe chose to have her brother's babies on the spot it's that Lisa Kudrow herself who plays Phoebe was pregnant with her only child and was in throes of a difficult pregnancy in real life and grounded doctor's orders because it was the third trimester meaning if she'd gotten on the airplane she would lose the baby and possibly her life. They didn't even want to write a pregnancy storyline for Phoebe because they only wanted one character to have marriage/kids and that's Toss. Meanwhile, those friends were assholes to her when they returned to London talking about it right in front of her, teasing, taunting and showing off pictures pissing her off and making her feel left out. That's selfish; that's what third graders do. Believe me. Usually it's the other way around; Phoebe is the selfish show-off to all five of the other friends in her story telling etc. etc. and the friends have to put up with it or feel left out; this time they were the ones doing the showing off and talking about the pubs they visited and food they ate, never once mentioning that they wished she could have been there to enjoy it with them. To be fair, they did realize a little too late how they were making their pregnant friend feel bad and left out since she spent her time in the apartment on the phone endlessly and desperately trying to get Emily's parents to reunite with Toss and start the wedding all over again after Toss messed up the vows even though she didn't have to since Toss made his own bed. When Joey, Toss, Monica, Chandler and Rachel couldn't hide their emotions on how bad they were Phoebe they made a promise to drive her out to Atlantic City but as bad timing would have it, triplet water broke and they couldn't travel. But the bottom line is, they STILL made her a promise. They still broke their promise by not taking Phoebe to Atlantic City after she was out of the hospital and the triplets were in custody of Alice and Frank Jr.

Like you said it was childish banter but it was equally childish for Phoebe to get upset over it. All the London talk would have died down eventually anyway. I am aware that they wrote her pregnancy into the show for Lisa but you cant blame her character flaws on the writers since thats how she was written. I notice you dont do the same for Ross though.

Think about the long hours and long distance over the phone that Pheebs did to try to keep Toss' new marriage to Emily together while everyone else was off doing their own thing; Rachel was speculating about why Toss said her name over his new bride's, Monica and Chandler were looking for a cozy, private space to have sex in and Joey was having sex with Felicity. Who was the only person contacting Emily's stepmother and the housekeeper to explain the absurdity of Toss' behavior? Pheebes that's who! Besides, Toss was pretty harsh towards Pheebs in the first part of the episode before they left to London, he didn't even say goodbye to Phoebe before he left when he pressured Rachel to attend, but everyone else kissed Phoebe goodbye and Chandler got patted on the head from Phoebe when he could have just gone around to the front of the couch to hug and kiss her goodbye since that was what he wanted; instead of asking a pregnant girl to move an awkward angle. Then in London at the wedding; she kept the cell phone busy with Joey's help to let them now Rachel arrived after all; and then at the altar, Toss wouldn't even let Phoebe congratulate him because he was mad. WTF Why? Then they got home, talked over her head talking about how great London was, they felt bad after awhile, then they made her a promise and then broke it. Bottom line: That's why they owed her the trip.
