Why no question mark in the title?

As written, the movie title is a statement: Gilbert Grape is being eaten by someone or something named or called “What.” Who or what is what? Who’s on 1st?

If the title had a question mark, it would be interrogatory, as in “What’s bothering Gilbert Grape QUESTION MARK????”

Is it TOO MUCH TROUBLE to punctuate your goddam title?

Or does What like to, um, EAT Gilbert surreptitiously, in the shadows, or the closet.

I think this is proper grammar.

[This is] what's eating gilbert grape

What's eating gilbert grape (is also eating me.)

But there are more qualified people on this board.

It's not a question in the sense of "What's" eating Gilbert Grape, rather it's more like the title is showing a glimpse into his life and and we get to see exactly what's eating Gilbert Grape.

It's his life in general...
