DVD
This was a good movie why not a DVD?
shareOMG! That idea is SO awesome!
I'm sure they'll put it on DVD soon enough...
(And it BETTER have GREAT special features! Or ELSE!)
Ratigan...I think that you are a slimy, contemptible SEWER RAT!
i think i saw the DVD at toys R us one time but it was just a single disc. crap I LOVED THIS MOVIE WHEN I WAS A KID! and i hope it comes out on special edition.
People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people
Released in 2005 in the UK only, PAL format, the DVD was a fullscreen format with no subtitles, a single disc or in a two and three-pack with Small Soldiers and Thunderbirds. This disc is available through Amazon and ebay and will play on many Chinese-made DVD players (if they are PAL compatible and region-free players). There has been no widescreen release, excepting the 1994 Laserdisc letterbox edition.
The North American market is still waiting patiently for any DVD release, and may well wait forever. Why, you may ask? In a couple of years Blu-Ray/HD discs will probably be the new standard, so no major studio is racing to release old movies on DVD today. Since this movie was made by Spielberg's Amblimation, which is now a part of Dreamworks Animation, it waits in line behind other more successful releases (including American Tail, just released, and others). However, there are some issues with the movie which I expect are blocking its release.
Have another look at the movie, specifically Elsa's flight THROUGH the Empire State Building and see if you can figure it out.
Good luck.
I think it deserves atleast a decent DVD edition including Widescreen format, multiple languages, subtitles, and the basic features. Cause normally they don't include a lot of bonus material in non-worthy films while other worthy ones get atleast 2 Discs in a Set.
shareBut there's always hope, right?
Long live The Great Mouse Detective!

Jeez, I sure hope so.
So many I think about that do not deserve a DVD release bug me whilst I wait patiently for this one to be released.
It's now available in Australia, but only in a pack with "Babe" and "Two Brothers". Here is the link: http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/790311
shareI guess it's about time I upgrade my DVD player to a region free one.
Thanks for the link!
