Does anybody else like this one better than the first movie?

I like the first one, but for reason, I tend to prefer the second one. I thought some of the jokes in the second movie were funnier and the gags too, like the Jurassic Park reference, as well as the references to Thelma and Louise and The Graduate.

I'm kind of a big deal. People know me.

I saw WW2 in a theater (theatre) in Wellington, New Zealand at a New Years Day 1994 matinee and what I remember is that most of the jokes went way past their heads (I'm American, lived in NZ 6 years). It was sort of embarrassing being the only person who laughed at most of the jokes, knowing that virtually no one else in the audience understood them. The Kiwis didn't have a clue. WW1 still gets my vote. How did #2 go over in places like Germany (where I lived 3 years) they have no sense of humor LOL =) WW is silly Canadian-style humor which most countries simply don't get. It's dumb but harmless.

The second one is MUCH better/funnier than the first one. Some Austin Powers jokes can already be seen here. Like when the guy removes his glasses to reveal an eye without pigment, and Wayne and Garth can't help commenting and staring. The same thing happens with the "Mole" in Austin Powers (the third installment I think). Also Family Guy is influenced by many of the jokes here. For example, when Wayne looks around trying to think of bands that will play at Waynestock; the same thing happens when Peter Griffin tries to think of a fake name for himself (he sees a pea, and a tear, and a flying griffin, so he says his name is Peter Griffin!) These jokes are similar, but not the same. To me, Wayne's World 2 has given birth to a KIND of humor. But then again there are probably other comedians or movies influencing Wayne's World 2 that I'm not aware of.

And, remember when Wayne was giving his order at the drive through fast food joint? If you're aware of the fonejacker comedy show, the fonejacker used the same kind of joke when he called people and gave them his credit card details, but he didn't pronounce all the letters, so the people at the other end of the line thought there was some problem with the lines. Anyway, my point is that I think the influence of Wayne's World 2 is widespread, whereas Wayne's World 1 is not.

The first Wayne's World is funny, but I find myself laughing more when I watch Wayne's World 2. The eye scene, the 'sphincter says what?' scene, especially when Bobby pretty much had Wayne and Garth's number. Also, the part when the guys were training to be roadies. Gotta love the monologue that Wayne gave to Chris Farley's character. Plus, the Del Preston character stole every scene he was in. Can't deny the homage to The Graduate was pure comedy genius.

On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

While I thought the first movie was an overall better movie I personally liked the villain in this movie a lot better than the villain in the original

reply

Yes, this one was funnier to me.

Definitely this one. If I was in the dream sequence, I'd ask "Jim" to tell Brian (Jones) to say hi for me.

I don't know if I like it better, but I remember watching it more than the original as a kid.
