I recommend the book to anyone who hasn't read it. I read it over the course of 24 hours, and it was a pretty breezy read. The movie, of course, doesn't cover everything, but it does a pretty good job of matching the events as Tobias Wolff describes them.

I agree. The book has some differences, like Toby beating his dog with a broom and then feeling bad about it (that's how him and "Champ" bonded).
But there would be no way to show that in a movie without making Toby look really bad- which of course it was a horrible thing to do.
he also talks about the kiss with Author. I think it goes something like "he kissed me or I kissed him."
OMG, you don't know how hard your comment made me laugh. Too funny. Thank you. :)

There's nothing that a little less attitude wouldn't cure! *slap*
LOL!!!
Courvoisier......please?
He's quite a good looking boy. I would have thought they would have done that just for the movie, like they do with most movies based on real events. The actual people who had Marley could be your neighbours instead of the attractive Jenniffer and other guy in the moive.
Bourne + Bond = Best Action Film Award
cool pic...there's a resemblance between him and DiCaprio
"This is a faithful saying...Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."
That looks like a picture from the 1800s.
