Best car chase since Bullitt

Sure there were things we can pick apart in it like hubcaps and bumpers, but Bullitt had those too.

If you want to see good car chases then I suggest you watch ‘Ronin’.

I agree
Or French Connection and or terminator 2

The "calm dialog about mundane things" was what ruined it for me. They were driving at high speed through crowded streets narrowly missing pedestrians, causing multiple crashes and potentially killing more people than the person they were chasing. There's no way a cop in that situation would be having a jokey, laid-back conversation at the same time like Bruce Willis was doing.

An excellent car chase in in "To live and die in LA" directed by William Friedkin, the director also of French Connection, where there's also a great car chase...

The only car chase I've seen that matches Bullet was in a comedy of all things, you want to see an insane car chase check out the Dabney Coleman classic Short Time lol.

"Mr. Treehorn treats objects like women, man."

While I thought the film kinda sucked, the car chase in Short Time was indeed brilliant.

Ronin's still my favourite car chase film though. It's got TWO seriously awesome chases in it.

The Blues Brothers deserves mention.

"Jake! I gotta pull over..."

Don't forget the opening chase in mad max or the final in the road warrior!

all these films are better

the seven ups (even had bill hickman doing the stunt driving who was also in bullitt)
vanishing point
dirty mary crazy larry
both gone in 60 seconds
the junkman
the French connection
short time
mad max
the blues brothers
to live and die in la
the sugarland express
white lightning

there is a bunch more I could list. the seven ups is the best to me of all of those white lightning or the original gone in 60 seconds in a close second.

The car scene in The Rock seemed to try and be good but felt forced. But it's fun to watch

IMO the definitive car chase is in the short film "C etait de Rendezvous". It is a pre-dawn and very illegal race through Paris in the director's Ferrari. It only lasts 10 minutes but what a 10 minutes it is! Easily obtainable on youtube.

Funny thing about this car chase. There were parts of this exact chase used in another movie that I can't think of now
