The final scene in the freezing wind and snow haunted me for weeks after watching the film. I couldn't get it out of my mind. It must be the most heart-wrenching endings in film history. Dominique Horwitz's portrayal of Fritz Reiser was wonderful acting.

Same! I was doing alright most of the movie but as soon as Hans said "it's too cold to cry" I started to tear up, and when Fritz began talking about how much Hans would have hated the desert, just petting his head and holding onto him as the last friend he had, I started to weep. The abnormally long final shot of the bodies just sitting there was chilling.
