A friend of mine and I were talking about it a few years back after we saw it the first time. This is what we came up with:

It could have been after the years of a bad marriage and her husband was bad to her ( She said something about being in a bad marriage )and he showed her what great sex was all about and he took a liking to her.( after they did it... the next day he give her a flower on her computer and then later sent her flowers, if I remember right it was the same day )

This might not be it at all...but it's a start. Hope it helps.

If I hadn't had sex in that long, i would be crying too, plus it's Billy Baldwin, HEllo!! He looked damn fine but yeh bad marriage, i had been a while and her husband was a tool

reply

i always thought that she was crying because she was ready to orgasm and she is cryin with relief as she feels she can really let go and b herself with Zeke and all the crap she had put up with b4 had taken its toll on her so she has not been able to fully relax within herself.

"Dont dream it...be it..."

reply

BRAVO, that's a better explanation. I have a friend with the same problem, again thank god it ain't me, yowza

reply

exactly. i always thought she was just coming and sometimes it feels good enough to cry.

It was my understanding that her crying was not because of an emotional problem but a physical one. After a woman goes a long period of time without having sexual intercourse , the vagina tightens (much like the tightness of a virgin) and this can make sex painful......Remember how he sent her a message on her computer the next day asking if any of her body parts were sore????? I don't think most men or young women who are still virgins would actually pick up on that though and perhaps that's why so many people are confused.

I was in high school back in 1993 and I picked up on it, and at that time I was a virgin who never had sex. But I still understood what was going on. I knew it was a physical issue with Carly, she was cumming and/or body had constricted in the years b/w sex. I'm very surprised that these kids here don't understand that.

reply

...I really doubt that.

I'm pretty sure she was crying because of all the relief and emotion she was feeling, to finally have a man who is taking care of her and pleasuring her, after so much sh*t she went through.

I saw this movie when I was young and I thought she was crying because
the guy was laying back, basically letting herself do all the "work"
she started crying because it felt mechanical, it wasn't tender and everything, then the guy stroked her cheeck, did the " hush, baby it's alright" thing and
relaxed her.

She wasn't crying because of relief, she was crying because of tension.
She was under a lot of tension screwing a new , younger partner .
Maybe she thought she wouldn't live up to his expectations.

I think that's exactly right. But I was wondering that too. But how good must it have felt to have cried like that and just have him say "I'm here". That was so sweet that it was hot. LOL

reply

She's crying because is having sex with an amazing and very hansome guy like baldwin... i think he's very handsome and maybe he have a very large...

Eh I dont think she's crying because it's painful, what was she re-virginised or something? She's crying because after all the trouble she had with her hubby she can let go and enjoy herself with Baldwin's charachter and my god who would blame her, he's HOT!

Exactly...all of these stupid "physical" explanations are just weird and sound like they were written by an 11 year old boy who has a very crude understanding of what happens during normal sex. I don't think there was some underlying medical issue with her vagina that we were all just supposed to figure out for ourselves, she was a grown woman who obviously enjoyed sex, not a born again virgin...it all seemed very emotional and tender, and it's a feeling that any woman who has ever had seriously great sex with a guy they have the hots for understands. It feels so good...you just have to let it out sometimes...

Mishandled? What are you talking about? There isn't anything like that in this movie, and as far as "not meaning anything to the guy", I don't think that was true...they weren't the loves of each other's lives, but he genuinely liked her and was very nice to her...he just wasn't totally honest. It happens all the time, women aren't so naive that they would be crying about that or even thinking about it in the midst of mind blowing sex...even if they knew for a FACT that the guy didn't care. Believe it or not, it's possible for a woman to enjoy sex even if it's not within the confines of a serious relationship *GASP*! Why would you say she was prostituting herself? She enjoyed screwing him, he enjoyed screwing her...no big deal...christ.
As far as the crying, I saw it more as a release of the stress and feelings that had built up inside her, maybe residual feelings from the bad marriage, stress from many things in her life changing, and the build up of her attraction and sexual feelings toward him culminating in one big release while they were getting it on...sometimes you just finally let go. It was very real, and had nothing to do with her being "manhandled" "not meaning anything to the guy" or "prostituting herself"...I wonder if either you didn't see the whole movie or you have never had a healthy sexual relationship before, in which sex is reciprocal and the man isn't some sort of predator using and abusing the woman. I would really re-examine that if I were you.

I got the feeling that she either got really excited, or she just wasn't ready. He did kind of pressure her into it after all.

Because women don't enjoy sex half as much as men think we do?
