Difference between cut and uncut

All I know is that when the film, Sliver, was broadcast on bbc1 way back when in the late 90s, the sex, nudity, swearing, and violence were all either cut slightly or edited out completely.

A good example being in the first sex scene between Zeke and Carly, the bbc one version cuts out all the lovely, gorgeous shots of Zeke's yummy glutes pumping away. And before that the tv version cuts out Carly riding, for lack of a better term, Zeke. And and before that the television version cuts before Zeke performs cunillingus (sp?) on Carly.

Also in the second scene where Zeke rear ends Carly the bbc version cuts out the more explicit penetri shots.

Additionally the scenes where Carly watches Zeke's sex tapes with Vida and Naomi the more graphic sex is cut out.
