Blu ray coming 9/10/13
I wouldn't hold my breath for special features.I'm interested to see if the aspect ration is 2.35 like in theaters or 2.10 like the director intended for home video release.

shareI don't understand why he wanted 2.10.. It was such an odd ratio.
I wonder how the image is going to look compared to the DVD and LD release, the LD opinion is much better than the DVD... I think when they transferred it to DVD it gathered dust and scratches, as the LD is free of these.
If I get the Blu-ray, the first thing I am going to do is go to the scene with the naked man and see if I can get a better glimpse of his penis. Sorry for that.
"Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."
Is there an unrated Blu-ray? I just received the R-Rated Blu-ray through a different vendor from the US. If you look at the Amazon.com-Page for the film, only the cover says unrated.
http://www.amazon.com/Sliver-Blu-ray-William-Baldwin/dp/B00CT5NDHQ
Both at the side in the title it states Rated: R.
And the technical details:
Rated: R (Restricted)
Studio: Paramount Catalog
DVD Release Date: September 10, 2013
Run Time: 108 minutes
Only the run-time would be wrong, that is the run-time of the unrated version. Mine is from Paramount Catalog, with a stated run-time on the cover of 106 min (in truth 106 min and 29 sec. with Paramount-logo-beginning and credits).
The Ratio is stated as 2.1:1, so you see more than in the Fullscreen VHS/DVD.
The difference described here http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=1702851 is correct for the scene-difference, but you get more to see, as the aspect-ratio is 2.1:1, on my 1920x1080 TV there are the correct black bars on top and below (small though).
No extras, english subtitles.
Film quality and transfer look both pretty good to me. But I cannot compare, as it is a long time since seeing the film on DVD.
Oh, yeah, and just to be sure, at 1 h 21 min 52 sec you can press Pause and see a naked man going behind a woman putting on her bra looking in the mirror. His swinging penis looks uncircumcised.
Just having seen it again, I am not sure I will risk it again to buy it, maybe if it gets a lot cheaper or a European version gets pressed.
I would like to see a better and uncut/european cut of Color of the night, though.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109456/combinedThe only Blu-ray currently available is a shame compared to this one, and one of those bad 2 films on one Blu-ray-Deals, the picture quality was just so-so, and the missing parts showed more from Bruce and Jane.
The blu ray version I purchased from Amazon.co.uk is cut! So much so that it tears the very heart out of an otherwise graphic film. The DVD of Sliver I own is uncut in all its graphic glory.
It's just the sex that's cut mind. The violence and profanity are kept intact.
