Question about the ending

At first I thought the ending was weak, but I have come to appreciate it. Ouisa is leaving her "doll's house" in a way reminiscent of Nora in the Ibsen play. She says her piece to her husband, realizes the life she has been living is a lie, and then simply leaves. Did Ouisa slam the door like Nora? I don't remember....

reply

Nora? Ibsen play? I do think the ending was strong though. She did not slam the door. It's what's not said that's important.

If you haven't read "A Doll's House" by Henrik Ibsen, give it a try. I think you will see many parralels between Nora and Ouisa.

reply

Interesting, I never looked at it that way until you said that.

reply

Me either... I kept thinking it reminded me of something I read but I couldn't pinpoint it. Good looking out there!
