Will Smith..

I loved him in Ali, he was simply amazing! His performance really left me speechless.

..but in this movie, I have the impression that he wasn't 'heavy' enough to play this role.. he can't really pull of the role.. you know what I mean..? He tries, you know, but he doesn't completely pulls it of..

Actually I think his lack of gravitas helped his portrayal. Paul was a young kid looking to make it to the big time with just his looks and brains (and a laptop...and some skis...and an address book. lol) Just like Will at the same time was trying to cross over to movies from TV. Can you imagine him playing the role now? I couldn't. Not without me thinking WILL SMITH,academy award nominee,$25 million against 10% of the gross or whichever's higher,SUPER STAR.

I see what you mean, you got a point there

..but I mean, it also has to be believable for Sutherland and Channing and others.. If he woudn't be convincing enough to them, they wouldn't believe his story and it that way, it has a negative effect on the credibility of the movie. His character has to be smooth, and that's a little bit the problem with will's performance here; at least, that's what i think..

I hear what you're saying. However,I thought his performance was pitch perfect.

IA that Will's performance in this film was on the "paper thin" side, but this was early into his acting career, so I'll cut him some slack for it. He's improved tremendously.
