The Lord of the Rings reference

Could someone please tell me what Paul (Will Smith) exactly said about The Lord of the Rings in this film? I've looked for it everywhere, but I can't find it. Thanks in advance.

reply

He says it when hes talking to flan , ouiza, and that jeffrey guy. All he really does is say a bunch of famous books and mentions Lord of the Rings as one of them

reply

I know when he says it, but I would like to get the exact quote.

reply

"Being imaginative, rather then being the lynch pin of our existence now stands as a synonym for something outside ourselves. Like science fiction or some new use for tangerine slices on raw pork chops. <sarcasticly> What an imaginative summer recipie. And Star Wars, so imaginative. And Star Trek, so imaginative. And Lord of the Rings, all those dwarves.. so imaginative."

reply

Thanks! Do you also know the couple of lines that come after that?

reply

Sorry, I no longer have the film in front of me. I know that he ends the point there, though. If the next lines were pertinent to what I wrote, I would have included them.

reply

Okay, thanks

reply

the rest is:

The imagination has moved out of the realm of being our link, our most personal link, with our innter lives and the world outside that world - this world we share. What is schizophrenia but a horrifying state where what's in here doesn't match up with what's out there?

reply

he's saying lord of the rings is crap, and he's right. it's a pop culture phenomenon he's denouncing, where ewoks, elves, etc become symbols of imagination. and he says imagination is something more profound and personal than that.
