Why couldn't they find him? (end)

Why didn't they ask where the investigator was transfered to and how to contact him? The woman at the station should know, and then the investigator could tell them what happened to Paul.

Why didn't Paul use his phone call to contact them from jail?

Hampton was not "ripped off" by John Guare. It was all perfectly, legally settled.

Hi -

As I read a summary of the real life story at:

http://users.senet.com.au/~rodroach/david.htm

it seems to me that Guare clearly used Hampton's exploits as the basis of the play. To me, it would have been appropriate for Guare to at least offer Hampton something even if he was not legally obligated to.

"I assume they contacted him with a cell phone."

Cell phones in 1990??? I suppose the rich couple had a CAR phone in their limo, but not a portable cellphone, since they were still several years into the future. The New York detective had a DESK phone and when he quit his desk, he left the phone behind, so the number Kittridge had was invalid.

And when his wife asked for his new location, the desk cop had no idea, so they lost him

In a way, it's karma, isn't it? He ripped off people as well. It's quite a different matter when the player gets played, I suppose.

It's based on a real story? Really?

By the way, I've only just seen this movie right now. A shame I didn't see it sooner. Heh. It was interesting.

A word to the wise, or I should say FROM the wise - if you're gonna reveal a spoiler to those who haven't seen the movie (especially one that involves the end), keep it in the post instead of using it as a subject title for anyone to see, and put "spoiler" on to warn people ahead of time.

SPOILER WARING RULE (been around since the birth of the internet & usenet in the 80s):

You do not need to put a warning on a TV show or movie after 1 year has passed. If someone has not seen the show or movie by this point, that someone should not be reading the show/movie's forum.
