All I can say is DON'T EVER READ IT!!! I haven't but I know people who have and when I heard about it, it made me nauseus. I don't know what the hell the woman [I think her name was Susan Moody] was thinking, but she is a sick woman and I strongly believe that Frances Hodgson Burnett is turning over in her grave. This Moody woman took the loveable characters from the original novel and turned them into lunatics!!! Not to mention how graphic it was [and I'm not just talking about the violence]!!! Mary marries some guy she barely knows, turns back into her whiny self, treats her children as she was treated by her parents [her children eventually die in the book], then she marries Colin--who is her cousin! ew--,has an affair with Dickon, finds out Colin is GAY!!! [I mean c'mon are you kidding me, lady?], turns down Dickon's marriage proposal feeling he is "beneath her" [okay, right], and then he commits suicide!!!

This lady is crazy and I have no idea how she lives with herself. Do yourself a favor and never pick up this book, and parents, don't let the title deceive you--this is by no means in any way, shape, or form a children's book!!

There, sorry, had to vent.

Wow that does sound like crap! But I'm actually not surprised if she happened to marry Colin someday, because in those days especially in wealthy families it was very common and actually encouraged upon to marry your relative, mostly to keep the bloodline "pure."

I knew that lol--but when it comes to the characters from The Secret Garden, I prefer they not do that lol

I just found the book in my room - never read it- and now reading what your sayin bout it, now im not sure if i want to read it.

please don't read it, i made that mistake and was horrified by what i read...and i love the secret garden so much!

That's all the non-canon so-called sequel is, a horrible fanfic that was published because the copyright expired and Susan Moody got there first. It's horrible abomination that has a bunch of random crap, and the characters are all out of character (even if they are now adults). She should feel ashamed more that mutilated piece of rubbish she calls literature. It's like she set out to deliberately destroy the memory of the original book along with everything that made it and the characters special. Did she even read the original novel, or just look up the plot on Wikipedia? Seriously, go onto Amazon just look at the ratings. Nearly everyone gave it one star and left a horrible review. If Susan Moody has any respect for herself, for Frances Hodgson Burnett, or for the original book and it's characters, she would disown, abolish, and ban that so-called piece of literature.

Good news though, there is an alternate sequel by Holly Webb. I didn't read it, but it's got to be better than the piece of crap Susan Moody wrote. I posted the link below.
