Mr. Mertle
I just saw this for the first time, and there is one thing that really bothers me--in the "flashback" story of the beast, Mr. Mertle is white, but at the end he is played by James Earl Jones...
shareYeah, it's a story being told by a pre-teen. The "Beast" didn't really eat those criminals either.
shareGood point--I didn't think about it that way. I guess I figured that at some point they had actually seen Mr. Mertle and at least knew what he looked like. :)
shareThe thing with Mr. Mertle is that every town, especially back then, had someone like him. Someone that you hear all these stories about but you never see.
