Why did Henry's friends not want to throw the ball back?

Before his bleachers to home plate throw , both his friend pass up the chance to throw it back. One kid says "Wait a minute , this games on cable". Did they think that the camera man is getting a closeup of them throwing?

They just didn't want to be embarrassed if they screwed up on national tv

At Cubs games, the fans will rag you if you have a 'soft' throw.

True, but they were kids after all so I'm sure they wouldn't have been ragged on too hard. As the other guy said, it was mostly because it was a nationally televised game and they didn't want to be embarrassed.
