which of these two movies do you like better:?

angels in the outfield or the rookie of the year

there ratings are almost identical

any one?

hmmmm, well I've been a fan of Angels in the Outfield ('94) longer, but ROTY has better jokes. Both of them have a sort of comical style that makes them not great movies, but good, enjoyable ones to watch. They both have several gags and cameos of real players (though angels is more subtile about it). I think they both should be like a 6.5

reply

neither. my favorite is little big league.
i remember watching that one over and over when i was about 10-11.
but if i had to choose...i'd say rookie of the year.

reply

i know its not particuarly helpful but there both on the same level.
im 20, so i was the target audience when they came out,
ive enjoyed them both for quite a while, alltho its been a while since ive seen both
i believe angels in the outfield is less funny, more mushy touchyfeely
but still good in different ways.
very similair movies, escept in agels a kid gets angels to save a team, and in rookie a kid gets a magic sprain that saves a team.

Agreed....Little Big League is waaaayyy better than either of these movies...but given the question at hand, Rookie of the Year tops Angels simply because it's plot line (boy breaks arm, throws hard, becomes MLB pitcher) is slightly more believable than the plot line from Angels (angels come down to Earth and manipulate baseball games so the Angels can win the pennant)...

Mr. Pink: You shoot anybody?
Mr. White: A few cops.
Mr. Pink: No real people?

I'd think we'd see angels coming down to Earth before the Cubs winning a world series.

Little Big League, Rookie of the Year and Angels in the Outfield are all the same in my opinion. I'd have to give the nod the Rookie of the Year for being released first. It's obvious that parts of Little Big League were ripped off from Rookie of the Year. So, they set the standard for what that's worth.

I know it's not an option but I'd rather watch Major League 1 or 2.

Rookie Of The Year, it's more funny.

Angels In The Outfield is a touching but silly movie. While it gives a good message, it does not seem like Sunday School.

I'd love to see a book I've read with a plot of a losing team becoming a baseball team into a movie. That book is The Toilet Paper Tigers by Gordon Korman, and it's the funniest book I've ever read.
