similarities with the Station Agent? Spoilers

Can anyone tell me whether these films have any relation that isn't on the web pages?

Watching the Station Agent recently (which I had to rewatch the next day, something I rarely do so soon) I got the same "feel" for it that i felt from Music of chance. I've left a comment on this on the Station Agent page but didn't get a response.
As well as the "feel" I've mentioned in the use of camera and music to give an almost super real quality to the movie, their is also the use of figurines as portents.

I just wanted to see if anyone else had any similar thoughts or knew if they makers had some connection?

...........Spoilers...........

In the station agent Finn knocks over a small model figure just before his friend falls over dead.
It's only when Mandy steals the figurines that their luck changes, later Spader superstitously fears them.

It's nothing remotely like The Station Agent.

Though you're fed up, throw your head up.

yeah i can hardly think of two more different films...

...but can you think of any other (non mythical/magical) films that focus on miniature figures which portent death/bad luck?

as for them being totally similiar I'd be surprised if that many people had actually seen both films, so I'm not saying they're identical at all, just that they both struck a chord with me in a similiar way and are two of my favourite films.

They both had a slow pace and were surreal. Otherwise I can't think of similarities. Other than, yes, they're both favorites of mine too.
