So was Ted Danson the father or not

At a point he says no, but later shows up at the graduation saying he is. Any answers?

it turns out he was not her biological father - the clinic had mixed up their files prior to Zora getting her file.....but at the graduation he says he's her dad because he's essentially taken on that role and loves her as though she was his own...

He isn't her biological father but has a bit of an epiphany and decides he would like to take on the father role.

It was nice since it turned out he was NOT the biological dad but found he cared for the girl. He wanted to take on the role as dad. Nice for this character since he was kind of a selfish cad and had to change to be there for someone else.

There is a vast difference between being "the father" and being "her Dad". Using the word "Dad" he was telling her he loved her as if she WERE his and was hoping she loved him that way too" Her introduction of him as "my dad" was her way of accepting his offer. It brought a tear to this old codger's eye.
