I'm rewatching this now and I'm realising for sure something that's been on the back of my mind for years now:

Even if Dennis Nedry got away on the boat to the mainland, wouldn't it have been possible for Hammond to inform the authorities to arrest Nedry if they caught him, for disrupting the park alone?

Everyone seems to be under this blinkered delusion that as long as Nedry can escape the island with the dinosaurs running loose and board the boat, he'll never be caught. That's just dumb.

I don't think Nedry was planning to leave the island. I think he intended to drop off the shaving cream can with Dodson's man and get back in to reset the system with no one the wiser to what he did. He just didn't think it through and realize the dinosaurs would get loose.

I suppose so, I never thought of that. I always thought Nedry planned to leave for good.
